Tech. Quiz at BBDIT

The Galgotian Quizzing Blog
Hmmm... The very first quiz of my college life was supposed to be an General Quiz in BBDIT...but having reached there much earlier than the event, we had a lot of time with us... So we ended up registering for the technical quiz as well... So the very first quiz of our college life started with a technical Quiz!
Going in to the hall, as first years, for a tech. quiz, where the prelims were supposed to take place, I had lesser expectations of qualifying for the finals, than what Paris Hilton would have for winning an Oscar! But I had participated in Computer Quizzes in middle school, so I had a little knowledge about computers and all...
When I first gave a run through of all the questions printed on the sheet, I thought that we were gone for good. Ha... but it was a multiple choice quiz[ REMINDER : I am strongly against using Multiple Choice Questions to judge a person's knowledge]. Some of the questions were really silly, and the options were even sillier...for Example we were asked who was the person credited to be the developer of the Computer Language C... the options read...Denis Ritchie, Warren Buffet, Rupert Murdoch or something...then there was this question which asked us the Code name for Windows XP, the options included, Whistler, DOS, Microsoft, Java!!!
The results of the prelims were announced a few minutes after the submission of the answers, and to our surprise we had topped the prelims, along with Chirag's team after scoring 11 out of 20. Yay!!!
So we had to come next day for the finals of the tech. quiz...If you'd rate the prelims as lousy, you'd definately rate the finals as lousier. We were asked the most drab, random, boring, senseless, f****d up questions ever to be formed, plus they were multiple choice again[ For my opinion on Multiple Choice Questions please read para 3 of this blog entry] The questions were so random and boring, like we were asked the full form of BATA, the next question full form of SATA, then which of the following Chipsets came into the market before the others... a-->INTEL
X@Q349734 something, b---> INTEL oaishfdoas3434 something, c----> INTEL 28yfdfhfdiufhdsiufhidshfishdfiuhdsifhdsifuh something, d-----> INTEL CRAP! And on top of all that they were not disclosing the answers, and we had to wait till the next day for the results of the quiz[though we were quite sure that we had won it]...
The only bright part about this quiz, I would say is the gorgeous trophy and the handsome cash prize...ALL IN ALL IT WAS JUST ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL!!!

Rating of the Quiz : * ---- 1 star out of 5[the star just because of the cash prize!!!]
Areas where they could have improved : By scrapping multiple choice questions altogether, introducing an audio visual round, raising the level of questions[quizzically], disclosing the answers after each question, a much better Quizmaster, better designing of rounds, doing away with the elimination system, removing the concept of a jury, announcement of the results then and there, by making it more lucrative by adding a little more spice and fun!
